The original house, Mount Mapas was built in 1740 by Col. John
Mapas, although records show that a building or buildings stood
here at a much earlier date. In 1840, the house was enlarged
and renamed Killiney Castle. Trees planted by a former owner,
Mrs. Chippendale Higgan, are still standing today. The castle
was finally purchased by the Fitzpatrick family in the 1970s
who restored and modernized the entire house and transformed
it into the luxury hotel it is today, and managed by their daughter
Eithne Fitzpatrick Scott-Lennon.
All rooms are en-suite and include all modern amenities, including
multi-channel television, tea and coffee making facilities,
hair dryer and trouser press. Rooms are luxuriously appointed
and some with sea views. Guest lounge available, as well as
an award-winning restaurant and bar.
Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel is one of Dublin's hidden gems. It's
tucked away within a woodland at the top of a hill in the Killiney
Hills, yet has easy access to main roads, DART train and bus
lines for local sightseeing. A great getaway place.
